As you may know, Verlinden figures in 120mm have been oop for many years, and consequently sellers on eBay tend to think that that means that they are worth a small fortune. Prices upwards of £80 seem to be common place. Obviously, with the prodigious output of today's sculptors, and the ever increasing quality of both sculpting and casting, quite frankly the figures by Verlinden are not competing on the same level, and certainly not worth such a premium.

However.....

Sometimes, a seller puts a nice figure up, at a sensible price. As in the case of these two British Paras. The sniper is a nice figure, one I've been on the look out for for many years. The other is a figure in what is considered a bit of a typical "Verlinden pose" woodenly pointing in the mid distance lol.

£70 for the pair, and £4 postage. And a very decent seller to boot.

Always nice isn't it when you unexpectedly manage to snag an OOP figure that had previously eluded you.

Also agree with your comments re. Verlinden figures generally: A minority still hold up well today but most of them are now very much "of their time" and the prices that some sellers ask for them are fanciful. They haven't twigged yet that "OOP" and "RARE!!" don't necessarily mean "sought-after".

If you like FV's stuff, these are a good find. Verlinden figures still turn up regularly despite being defunct for years so folk must've bought them in some quantity.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a couple on my list at normal prices.

Nice find!

Some Verlinden figures are indeed still quite attractive. Of the two, I most like the sniper. I did this one some years ago and tweaked it to make it a bit less stiff. Even the nicer Verlinden figures tend to have a neck that is too straight. This entailed tilting the upper body forward, tilting the neck forward and to the side (filling the gap with camo net), adjusting the position of his right foot and how it is attached to the leg, and changing the cuffs (the sculpt has 1950s style cuffs).
Attached pics of the modifications. Not so hard to do, but I think they make this already good figure a really nice one.

Whatever you do, have fun with them!

Yes, I do like some of the Verlinden figures very much. The British Paras are not spectacular but nice, particularly the "Arnhem '44" set of two (of which I have three, one of which I'm converting ), and I like this sniper. I also have a few of the Vietnam figures, they are quite nice.
