So, after the madness of painting a bust every other day I thought I'd slow down a bit.
This is the Nuts Planet (do I paint anything else, yes I do) "Nights Watch" or Jon Snow from Game of Thrones to his friends.

Now it looks like an easy one to paint, do the head then spray the rest black, sorted, black tunic, black cloak, black fur trim, but I wanted to try and break up the black, you know how when black fabric fades it can turn green or red or brown, so I happen to have just bought the Army Painter ink set, strong tone, soft tone plus coloured tones.
So, I base coated everything black then actually painted everything matt black, then used the coloured washes, but after 5 or 6 coats they weren't adding anything to the game, I then mixed thinned washes of Vallejo acrylics and used that.
Not easy to see when not in strong light.

But the tunic has a purple tint, with purple washes and highlights then black washes over the top till it's barely visible.
The cloak had olive green washes and hightlights then covered in black.
The fur has chocolate brown, armour brown, black, grey and blue, again covered in black washes with a few strands of hair highlighted grey.

So that's the progress so far, I'll take my time doing his face then it'll be on to Daenerys, still hunting for the Andrea Ned Stark "Warrior of the North" to make the set.

Hope you like.

Regards.

Mick.
