Norman helmets

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask if the Norman soldiers painted their helmets? And if they did, what colours did they use. If anyone could direct me to a website - that would be even better.

It's possible (no technical reason they couldn't have) but I don't know that there is any reference to it being done. If you want to be sure definitely check around though, I'm no expert on the Normans.

Assuming they did it could have been done with any of the colours that were applied to their shields - dullish blue (not too dark), dullish red or vermilion, ochre for yellow, white, black.
