Norse/viking embroidery?

I'm going to be working on a norse/viking model very soon and the cloak is something of an impressive feature so i want to do it a massive service, as it deserves.
So any norse patterning of ANY kind will be awesome.

Viking textiles may not be to complicated, concerning color schemes or weaving patterns. Additionally, primary sources are rare. Not all the patterns which are used f.a. from re-enacters are truelly viking.
Some good patterns can be reconstructed from samples of tablet woven bands, usually woven at the edges of the textile (NOT simply sewn on).

To catch a glimpse on norse taste of compining colours, just google for Oseberg and/or Bayeux tapestry.

And: Of course there are differences between men's and women's clothing and there are differences between the centuries. Oseberg is a extreme wealthy woman's burial.

luck has it there is a surviving decorated cloak from a 1oth C Viking grave from Mammen in Denmark and the design should be enough to keep any painter occupied!

I just watched Thor and there is a patter left in the desert by the bifrost which i'm find ding difficult to pin down. where might this idea bew inspired from?

So far all suggestions have been historical in nature which is great!
how about something more refined/modern graphic design in nature?
e.g like imagery in thor etc
