Poste Militaire Northern Cheyenne Wolf Scout. A classic figure by Julian Hullis that I had wanted to do for a very long time and bought many years ago. A lot of fun to paint and research, the casting and fit was impeccable. Painted in oils, used Winsor Newton Flake White for the face and body, thought this gave a good representation of the chalk that was used while the Black and Red was depicted as war paint. 90mm.

This has always been my favorite Poste Militaire figure. I painted one about a hundred years ago (it seems) . Just a great figure to paint. You've done strong work on this, really nice painting.

Great job! Excellent research. The difference between types of body paint among the tribes is ignored by most painters that I have seen. As is the fact that full feather bonnets were rare. Appreciate you sticking to the facts. Ya-ta-hey, heitz!

Thanks for the kind words, l really enjoy doing the research. "All is good", love that Navajo saying. My father grew up on the Navajo Nation and had many friends there. We visited often.

A very nice 'blast from the past'.
The Poste Militaire figures never seem to age.
Your painting has certainly brought this one to life.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks for the kind words from everyone. Working on Hullis's Mamluk 1400 218647452_4469777139734361_6534320694185725463_n.jpg next, another Poste Militaire classic. Still the benchmark in my opinion.
