A fun little quick project.
Abteilung 502's 54mm Northumbrian Thegn 9th Century
The resin re-release of the Latorre classic.
I added a scratch built nasal bar for the Coppergate style helmet. Does anyone know if that was included in the original Latorre kit?
Painted in acrylics.

Great to see your bench time , a classic figure , I do remember the nasal bar on the original release ...easily lost !

A fine piece of painting in all areas , lovely colour palette, nice effective work on the shield and the nasal bar

Pretty sure that the original release didn't include the nasal bar (but I might be wrong).

Really nice work there. I'm a great fan of muted colour palettes like this one.

I think you're right Kev. I just saw your comment (after posting my own) so I googled it to check and the box art for the original Latorre piece does indeed show one. So your observation on it being easily lost probably explains why most of the ones I've seen don't have it!

Agree, lovely brushwork, the colours are nicely muted and flow from the figure down into the groundwork, great job.

I recently bought some latorre Re releases and have some original ones. I have a question on this one. Is there an optional strap for the shield to put it on the back as seen on some versions? But i will go for it anyway

I built it as it comes in the box. If you wanted to have the shield slung on his back, you will have to build your own strap and mount it there.

Beautiful painting Macca . Whenever I see this Latorre figure, it always remind me of this. Age is taking its toll on it. New Hope Design from the eighties. Original Osprey illustration I think.
