The Romanovs Are Back Again!
How times change!
After the Russian Revolution, the new rulers mercilessly murdered every member of the overthrown Romanov family they could get - regardless of whether they were men, women or children!
Cat lover Lenin...
... said at the time, "the counter-revolution must not have a banner around which it can rally."
Now safter the communist regime is history for its part, on November 5, 1991, for the first time since the October Revolution, a member of the former Romanov ruling house is allowed to enter Russia!
It concerns the "chef" of the House of Romanov, the Grand Duke Vladimir Kyrillowitsch Romanov ...:
The affair had been so diplomatically tricky beforehand because Vladimir Romanov had never questioned his family's claims to the throne. Worse still: after the death of his father in 1938, the Grand Duke proclaimed himself Russian tsar in exile.
In 1941 he welcomed the German attack on the Soviet Union as an opportunity to "overthrow Bolshevism".
After the fall of the communists, the Grand Duke, who lived in the south of France, had now publicly called for support for the “new Russia”.
In return, the new Russian government allows him a short private visit to visit his family's graves at St. Petersburg...:
Six months later, the Grand Duke will die - on April 21, 1992 in Miami, during a speech to US businessmen to whom he again wanted to appeal for support for Russia.
According to his wishes - and with the approval of the government - he will be buried in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in Saint Petersburg - where the other Romanovs are also located.
The Orthodox Patriarch of All Russia, His Holiness Kyril, will personally endeavor to attend the funeral ...:
The current pretender to the throne has been Georgy Mikhailowitsch Romanov, born 1981 ...
... the only son of Franz Wilhelm von Prussia (born 1943) and his wife Maria Wladimirowna Romanowa (born 1953), the daughter of Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich, whom we are talking about here ...
Georgij Mikhailowitsch Romanow, who lives at Rome, married on October 1, 2021 in St. Isaac's Cathedral ...
... the main church of Saint Petersburg, his fiancée, Rebecca Virginia Bettarini, the daughter of an Italian diplomat ...:
The civil wedding had taken place the day before at Moscow ...:
There is a standstill agreement between the Romanovs - who still live abroad - and the Russian government, although the Romanovs still maintain their claim to the Russian tsarist throne.
Before the wedding, the bride took - this is mandatory under the Romanovs' "house laws"! - the Russian Orthodox Faith and changed its name to Victoria Romanovna.
The Romanovs do not seem to learn anything: After the wedding, the newly wedded woman was given the title "Princess Romanov" with the title and salutation "Highness" ...
