Moving recently into my favourite era of uniforms I completed this French gentleman. He's from the well known Metal Modeles range and is one sculpted by Michel Saez for a change.
Beautifully proportioned and engraved in 54mm (although he's quite large compared to the same scale figures by Chota Sahib) He needed a larger base to avoid looking cramped. I originally planned to use a converted lady by Phoenix as his companion, but decided once I started painting to keep things simple.

Tempted by the dark blue of a Grenadier uniform I stuck with the classic Chasseur green and used a complimentary dark red marble floor to balance this. The floor was made of tiles of thin plastic painted and glossed. (Not sure the careful marble effect pattern shows u very well, but hey ho)

Comments welcome and best wishes to all
Paul

Daddy, this is excellent. The face is great (the figure's not yours).
Good choice of groundwork, I agree with your instincts on that aspect.
I've done this one, and such apparently 'simple' figures are often anything but. You've got the greens and the whites just right, something people often find tricky.
The details are very crisply rendered as well.
You can tell I like what you've done!

I'm overwhelmed gentlefolks. Thanks indeed for the compliments
Dapper like us indeed Nap :p (Says he sitting in his jeans and not having shaved for a couple of days)
Glad you like the whites BP; starting to get to grips with them and no longer put off by the prospect of the uniforms of the Dutch of the same period (which are predominantly white)
I'm inclined to agree Jai, but when I added a vase on a stand it looked a bit crowded on the base and I decided to leave it plain and enjoy the pose.

Best to all
Paul

Very nicely painted and presented.
The simplicity of the single figure and bare marble floor works perfectly.

Cheers,
Andrew
