Oil mix for confederate grey.

Hi Guys,
Its been a while since I've posted here but I need some help.
I've got the Jaguar bust of Robert E Lee which I hope to start soon,but need some help with a grey mix for this uniform.
I'm guessing it's more complicated than black and white perhaps with a little blue?

Good, but careful with what blue you use. You can also try Payne's Grey and white.

Try your black with Naples Yellow or Sepia Extra with Naples Yellow.

Winsor and Newton colours, Blue-black, raw umber, titanium white, dab of Mars yellow.

I would suggest you do a google image search as the Confederate Higher ranking officer colours had more of a blue tone than the general rank and file . here's a link to Gods and Generals, and Gettysburg

Also look up paintings by Don Troiani's, he's done several paintings of Rebert E Lee who seem to favour the more basic grey the troops wore .

Not necessarily, that could be exactly what you need.

99% of the time a simple black + blue mix will already be a slightly blueish grey, but you would generally need to add a little more blue to this to get the right sort of colour.
