I bought mine nearly 25 years ago, and have stored them in a wooden painter's tool box all that time. They are just as good as the day I bought them. They're Schminke-Mussini oils, from Dick Blick. I bought the tool box there, too, specifically to store my oils and supplies. It was unfinished pine, which I stained and sealed. Hope that helps!

Prost!

Rob, Winsor & Newton's own oil paint boxes are designed so the tubes are lying down but I don't think it really makes any difference.
Maybe if they were stood upright the oil would sink to the bottom of the tube and dry out the paint at the top but I don't know for sure.

Other way round but yes principle is correct.

Whichever way you store them just turn them over occasionally
