Hello all, I am looking for some suggetsions oh how you folks store your paints. i have, as I am sure most of you do as well, very many paints from acrylics to oils. i am stetting up my new hobby room so looking for clean efficient use of space. i currently keep a lot of my paints in boxes separated by brand/base it is getting a bit messy. thanks

Well i pretty much put my paints in seperate boxes but if the lids is big enough (like on the citadel bottles) i put a label on it so i can easily see what im looking for.

If Vancouver has these, try taking a walk through your local Big Lots or Dollar Store. From time to time, they carry plastic storage units with drawers or shelves that are just what you're looking for.

Below is a link to a thread we started on planetfigure back in 2004 and it shows how some of the members are organized.......and some are not so organized.

Work Areas click here

You'll see how some have arranged their workplaces, paints, books and finished figures. Some of the photos are gone now but it will give you a general idea of how we all organize our painting / sculpting areas. Mine has completely changed as I am always looking for ways to better improve the work area and keeping track of everything after 35 years in the hobby.

Forgive me,Godfather, but I must give you an idea you might not refuse.I've been through the storage wars, with bins and baskets, and every store contaner know to man,and nothing worked. One I was at Lowe's Home Improvement store and saw a young couple with the item I show below.Eureka!, I thought, and now oranize my paints in the bins placed at an angle. There is also room for tools, fidly bits andgroundwork supplies

Micro-Mark (1-800-225-1066 to get a catalog) has a nice 4 tier carousel that holds lots of paints and accomodates a variety of sizes of containers. It sits on the back corner of my work desk... the oils are kept in a bin to dig through.... oh well, no one's perfect :0

Depending on how you store your paints, a dot of the corresponding color of paint can be placed on the top of the bottle. I have part of an old Vallejo rack that was given to me for my paints, but on the occasion I paint somewhere besides home and have them in a box, the paint on the top helps make finding the desired colors easier.

The one that HobbyInovator is showing is what I purchased. It holds quite a few paints and is easy to maneuver to get out what I need for the moment. Major time saver.
