Hi All,

I hope everything is good for you and going the way you hope!

Looking for a little help if possible; I am transporting four busts to England from Ukraine in September.

I know I will break something, that is normal, especially me. The busts are varnished and painted in oils, however, does anyone have a good suggestion of what to wrap/pack them in to preserve the paint?

Thanks, Ian

Hi Ian

Never a easy thing to do for sure with possible pieces like weapons etc

You could use bubble wrap or tiny polystyrene packing balloons

Hope all goes well

Nap

A shoebox
Open the lid, put some layers of bubble wrap, bubbles up, set your bust on it, now multipe bubble wrap, bubbles down now, goes with layers 2 or 3 layers above teh lid level, put the lid back and press slowly, adhesive paper to fix it, take the roll of adhesive paper in your poket ( you will need it when packing again for the trip back to home )

A couple of suggestions:
Blue tack the bases down as thoroughly as possible. Pack around the bases to fix the pieces in place.
It scares the hell out of me to transport anything completed and I tend to think immobilising the figures and keeping them away from the box sides and top is essential.
Best of luck, on a number of levels, with your journey.
