I need some help/advice please.

How do you paint old (dry) and new (wet) blood on a weapon?

What colors or combination thereof do you use?

All help appreciated.

Ahhh...blood is red. Dried blood depending on what it is dried upon is dark brown or black. I don't know what medium you use so I cannot tell you specific colors by name, but any good medium red will work. The brown and black can be anything as well. I do not think the blade should be solid red for freshly shed blood, but heavily streaked. My view.--

To simulate drying blood on a weapon, I use a mixture of Tamiya Clear Red with a touch of Tamiya Clear Green to darken it, as well as adding a bit of Tamiya Hull Red for a bit of depth. Thinned Crinson red (oils) also works for thin washes or blood runs.

You could probably find pictures on the Internet of crime or accident victims to give you an idea about blood characteristics relative to various types of wounds. Gruesome, I know, but if you're striving for realism....

Willem, what paint type(s) do you have?

Nearly any dark red or crimson with a glossy finish will register as wet blood to the viewer - especially when it's in drips on a weapon :D - but how realistic do you want to go?
