Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please may i ask for some guidance regarding painting war game figures using oil paints.

I am a 54mm figure painter normally, but my wife purchased a set of the Perry brothers 28mm heavy French cavalry Napoleonic era.
The figures are devine and extremely well cast. I have two concerns, a the scale and the techniques required to paint in this scale, B can i use the same techniques using oils for 54mm as for the 28mm?

Please if anybody knows of how to paint 28mm with oils please could they reply to this request. I would like to be able to paint figures in this scale with oils as they are my prefered medium.

Thank you

Sure you can paint 28mm figs with oils if you're proficient - if you think about a section of a miniature at the smaller scale, it's just like painting a part/detail on a larger-scale figure.

Wargaming figures for use in gaming are often/usually painted pretty basically, since unit colours might be all that's necessary to be able to recognise at a distance. Although as you can see from the submissions on CMON you can go completely the other way and treat each one as miniature artworks (e.g. here, here and here)!
