Hi guys
Just a little money saving tip for some who paint in oils ,

If you buy the paper pallets from art stores they cost up to about Seven Quid
and for that you get a neat pad with a big hole in it for your thumb .

If you buy a roll of oven proof paper you get 30 feet of the stuff for £1.97 approx
cut it into squares as needed ,works just the same and does not soak out the oil from the pigment.

I can just here cries of but that's what I want to do:facepalm: ,but if you crush down the paint with a pallet knife for a few minutes it will make the paint smoother as the friction heats it up and your oils will work much better allowing less paint to cover giving a much finer finish .

But I guess most of you know this already :D

I only use the paper pallets when we are painting on shows.
At home I use a white tile.
Didn't know the backing paper worked that way to. I use it for a wetpallet when I'm painting the underlayer with acrylic.
