I learned this morning from a Liliput friend on msn Messenger that Fernando Martin Beneito has passed away this morning in Madrid Spain from a long fight with cancer..
I know many of us have his figures in our collection and his contribution to the Miniature World will be missed.

Guy,

This news came as a blow to me.

I've known Fernando since we started in this business. Used to call him 'El Jefe', the Chief.

Although he was absent from the shows these last few years, we've never suspected the worst would come.

His passing is a great loss to our community and to me in particular.

May he rest in peace.

I never had the honor nor the privlidge to meet this man but I have had the honor of buying several of his figures and the quality was, bar none, first class. His presence within this small hobby of painting figurines will be felt by all in some form or another. To his loved ones, " My condolences. May God be with you through these times and comfort your grief."

Of course this is one of the spanish legends. All the spanish modellers and the rest of the community may say that we have a very big lost today.

Rest in peace,

Rafa

I never knew him either but knew he was greatly respected by my friends in the manufacturing side of this great hobby. A sad day.

Rest in Peace

Rob

I too have painted many of his figures, my favorite was the vignette of the three conquistadores.

I would like to extend my condolences to his family and friends, his premature loss saddens all of us.

Certainly a great talent is a great loss!
Would it be appropriate to celebrate this man's great works by posting images of our own treatment of his figures here?
