Great releases for this month for Pegaso. I like in particular the French revolution...Superb.

The revolutionary girl is a little reminiscent of the central figure in the "Liberty Leading the People 28th July 1830" painting by Delacroix.

Wearing a Tsuba as an eyepatch is sheer nonsense, these were sword guards, invariably made of Iron and heavy, the notion of having one hanging over your eye is pure theatre.

Keith , you are missing a point - its Japanese Salvadore Dali - look the moustache ;) he is allowed some excentricity, heheh

And, seriosly , how many samurai figures have you seen that are done with proper respect for historism and not fantasies of the sculptor - or more importantly - of the client?
It may be the case that something like this happended - but what references did sculptor use ( and Victor is a respectful sensible guy as far as I know) , what period, what epoche? Nothing has been declared and I will admit I am not an expert. So far it looks like fantasy on samurai theme..

Hi Dimitry, of course you are right it is Dali! fancy me missing that!? and yes, he was crazy enough to wear a Tsuba on his eye:) perhaps Harold should have worn one in 1066, it might have saved him:D.
You are right of course we shouldn't take these things too seriously and it is a great sculpt as always from VK.

Once again I should.
The shoes are too big sans-culotte. the upper body twisted.

The bust pleases me even less. What happens when you throw money into the slot? He laughs then?
Cheers

A little rice paper strip comes out of the mouth with a fortune prediction. Most of them say: " YOU DIEEEEEEE!!!" LOL

I mean, ok, fair enough, Sony Chiba wore tsuba as eye patch in films, but what is it based on? Date Masamune is a fiction character - has tsuba as eyepatch. There is some supposedly real samurai called Yagyu Jubei - depicted with tsuba - so hey, who knows? (I became sooo very clever since google is around, lol)

The samurai represents Date Masamune, as far as i know he isn't a fiction character, i tell you sorry if i'm wrong. He had lost one of his eye through smallpox.

Well, I might be wrong too, that's the problem with internet. One page goes on about fictional characters, wiki then states they are real. I havent got another life time to become a Japanese expert no matter how much Id like to.
Wouldn't it be great if references were presented together with sculpts - that would avoid so many off -top discussions that go in vain.. (guilty)

Been a while since I saw that historical accuracy should sustain six long posts. God knows what would happen if an average figure planet inhabitant should take a peek at the garage kit market. Just lots of insanity and infinite possibilities, but not a toss ever given to belie ability, let alone accuracy. Suffice to say , this planet here is certainly earth with gravity a concept tightly upheld. Anything from outer space not making such a disclaimer should expect six long posts about it, or more. I am friends with lovely fellas whose religion is accurate armor building so dont get me wrong, I appreciate the passion. Maybe it's just been a while since I read a debate on this planet, on a bust which I fall for right from the start.

Some people love history, some people like history, some people like figures with tits.
You are welcome to set the bar for yourself.

I am curious about things I don't know.
