Hello Tamas,
Have you studied history? Charlemagne? The Frankish?The paladins?The "Durendal", that is not only a brand of soldiers, but a famous sword?
The ambush of the Basques against the French who came back in France after the campaign against muslims in Spain and were attacked on 15 august 778 at the "Roncesval"gorges? The famous paladin count of Bretagne Roland, that is not only a producer of keyboards and musical effects, but also an heroic warrior?
No? Game over, try again...

in spite of the fact that the sculpt is beautifull (thank benoit ;) ) , the paint is realy bad ...... :eek: the colours are " flashy" and the details not very well painted

( I speak of roland )

Hi Tamas;

Roland is famous primarily because his story was put into an epic poem which is known as the "song of Roland", which is one of the oldest examples of literature from the early middle ages. If you would like to read a bit more, I found this link to the Wikpedia site that explains the whole story;

I suppose my question is just how accurate is this figure? Not that it has to be 100% historically correct for me to buy, but I'm just curious as to how close they came to capturing the likeness of a knight from the 8th century.

It's a neat depiction of Roland. I like it.
But, is this the harness of a 8th century Frank?

Hi Tamas,
Don't worry, I said so only to joke with the history. Besides, I have not a good knowledge of English as Glenn to depict the tale of Roland.

I think the Roland figure is based in 19th century sources, like i.e the figure of Julius Caesar from Andrea in 90mms . It doesn´t represent a 8th century frankish warrior, but the idea people have of a Frank a hundred years ago. A neat figure but IMHO is not historically correct (I´m not against these kind of figures, only point it for those worried by historicity. In fact, almost all the Chanson is myth, so a 'fantasy' figure suits the theme well ).
