Superb releases as usual from Pegaso.
But the emergence of Andrea like fantasy figures I'm worried about.

Obviously the major manufacturers have to supply whatever the market demands, but does Pegaso have to follow that trend?Obviously they feel they'll lose market share if they don't.

Surely their marketing people should be concentrating on establishing their own market rather than just reacting to a market position that their competitor has adopted.

The quality of Pegaso's historical figures with the world's best sculptors should be enough to ensure Pegoso's position as the planet's best manufacturer without having to venture into the popular fanatasy market.

To follow that path simply makes them appear insecure about the quality of their own brilliant figures.

I guess what I'm taking a long time to say is just do what you do better than anyone else and leave it at that!!

I might agree with you if we were seeing a noticable drop in quality of their historical figures, but to me, they keep getting better. From what I've seen, their new fantasy line looks pretty unique and top notch. Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with the opinion that Pegaso, or any company, should shy away from excelling in whatever market they deem worthy of their efforts.

Wow, that bust is cool. Think of the color opportunities with that one! I also have to say, Cartacci can sculpt like a mad-man! That Carabinier is simply outstanding! I will also admit, I actually really like the fantasy piece. With Danilo's paintwork it really is a standout.

With that said, Mark, I must agree with Matt. I completely respect what you are saying, however, (and I'll add my take), with these trying economic times, I can't blame any manufacturer for spreading their wings (no pun intended), and trying to expand their customer base. I'm a HUGE music fan, and I've always been that guy that sorta regrets his favorite band "selling out", and I can see a correlation to that here, but in this case I like it! :)

That Carabinier officer is unbelievable! I always wanted to paint a carabinier and now my dream will come true. Is there any way to convince Maurizio to sculpt a 75mm Curaissier to go along with this fellow?

I have to agree with Matt and Sambaman. Anyone who know's Luca, will know the quality of Pegaso will never be compromised. They are just offering a quality product to a new market. We all know this is a very small market, and indeed getting smaller! Theyre generating revenue from a new source.

If WE2008 was any indicator, the fantasy genre seems to be quite popular at the moment. The level of work was stunning (as was most everything else there) and it would appear to make sense for Pegaso to be bringing this type of subject into their repertoire. Although I came into this hobby for "real life" subjects, the more I see the fantasy stuff, the more I like it. I certainly wont be giving up historical subjects, but the fantasy figures add some variety to the mix which I enjoy.

But there is a problem : the helmet : all is wrong, the shape, the crest. If you lokk at Rousselot and osprey (carabiniers - P Courcelle), you'll see it. Too Bad because the figure looks great...

Sorry Arnaud ..... what is the problem? What Plance t you have seen? ...... my
Historical researcher gave me this ..... and I do not think all wrong .... I would be happy to see your documentation to see if the helmet is wrong or your method of trial a little exaggerated.
Saluti MAB :)

Hi Maurizio,

A great piece!!! As a fellow sculptor for Pegaso, the research is a very important ingredient, that deserves and indeed, receives from Luca and all at Pegaso. I can not imagine a mistake being made with such details. It is clear to see your research is correct! I am no expert with this era, but it looks correct to me!!!

Again great work my friend!
