Pegaso Models recently released this 1:9th scale resin Mongol bust. Supplied as 12 resin parts. All parts come in a plastic zip bag. The box art is very attractive as serves as a good painting guide. A close inspection of the parts show an excellent level of detail, good casting with a very minimal of cleanup.

A close inspection of the head shows beautiful detail that has been sculpted into the face and the excellent quality of the casting.

We can now take a look at the main torso of the bust with four views showing the all the detail of the front, back and sides. Again showing very clean casting and high level of detail. We can also see the location point for the head.

The helmet is supplied as a one piece casting with the plume as a separate piece.

Test fitting of the head and helmet show an exact fit with no eveidence of any filler needed between the joints.

Here we can see the three parts of the neck armour that locate beneath the helmet.

All three parts locate exact into the recessed locating points on the head.

A test fit of the helmet shows all the pieces now coming together and an excellent fit between all parts.

There is a pedestal supplied in the kit for attaching the bust to a base. We can also see the small ties and straps that attach to the bust, again these small parts are cast well and have minimal cleanup.

The bow comes attached to a casting spru and can easily removed. It locates on the two locating points on the back of the main torso.

Conclusion:

Another excellent release from Pegaso models. All parts are very clean with a minimal of clean up. All parts show a good level of detail and high quality casting. Test fitting of all parts shows an exact fit. Highly recommended to anyone interested in this period of history.

EISH ! EISH ! EISH ! What a beautiful piece Tommi, you and Guy always do us a splendid job in new releases. Pegaso seem to have a neck and neck with Young on the clarity of casting and subjects although Pegaso is benchmark in this industry IMHO.:mad:Thanks for the intro mate much appreciated.

I have this and am working on it as we speak. It is a beautiful bust. Along with the Andrea "After the Battle Bust", & the "Lucky Jack" bust by Young, this bust will probably be seen a lot at shows. It is a joy to paint and is a must have!

Brilliant piece of sculpture by Victor and Pegaso and also brilliant casting by YS Masterpieces !

I will definately paint this one soon !

Great Review Tommi

Well i got to admit i had this one underestimated until now. I certaintly got to have this one. Thanks for the detailed insight Tommi.

Hi Tommi

thanks for that, I got mine a week or so ago, I couldn’t find the pedestal though, no problem as I make my own. But I have to say it fits together is brilliant, you can fit it all together without glue, the only thing with mine was the bow string, it was not as good as it looked and was too bent on mine to sort without breaking it, so I removed it and replaced it with a twisted wire version from fuse wire.

Grat bust

Hi Dave
Good idea with the bow string, will do that with mine when I get round to painting it. Yes it all fits together like lego bricks, a fantastic piece and something I am looking forward to see painted by you.
Cheers
