Introduction

Here I present you another of the Latest August Releases from Pegaso Models. Seleucid General bust at 200mm. This is the first time that I got a Pegasos Bust and that's because I really liked the attitude and face of this particular one. The bust is sculpted by the master Fausto Gutierrez and Painted from another master Massimo Pasquali . That's a very interesting kit indeed with a great "atmospheric look" I would say, that will surely satisfy anyone who will purhace it.

Historical Notes

After the death of Alexander the Great in the afternoon of 11 June 323 BCE, his empire was divided by his generals, the Diadochi. One of them was his friend Seleucus, who became king of the eastern provinces - more or less modern Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, together with parts of Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. His kingdom had two capitals, which he founded in c.300: Antioch in Syria (pictures) and Seleucia in Mesopotamia. Babylon was another important city. The empire was, like the empire of Alexander, actually the continuation of the empires before: the Assyrian, Babylonian, and the Achaemenid Empire.
Seleucus' reign lasted from 312 to 281 (more...), and he was succeeded by his descendants, who continued to govern this assembly of countries for more than two centuries. However, in the mid-240's, during a brief interregnum, the Seleucids started to lose territory in the east, where the Parni nomads settled themselves in the satrapy of Parthia in northeastern Iran. At the same time, the satrapy of Bactria (northern Afghanistan) became independent. Later, the Seleucid king Antiochus III the Great was able to reconquer these territories, during a series of eastern wars between 209 and 204. In the southwest, the Seleucid kings fought several "Syrian wars" with the Egyptians; in 200, their king was forced to cede Palestine to Antiochus III. Seleucid power had reached its zenith. Yet, Antiochus was also forced to witness the beginning of its demise.

Quality and Detail

As I said that was the first time that a bust from Pegaso was coming into my hands. So I quickly opened the box and surely enough a smile came to my mouth viewing the highly quality pieces of the bust. Amazing clean metal with great cast, just composes an amazing result. The facial details are superb along with the little ones on the metal thorax, feathers etc.

Painting

In my humble opinion I don't believe that this is a difficult bust to build and even paint. All the parts are so well sculpted that will make the brush to flow on them. I would surely recommended to everyone and even to painters that haven't painted a bust before.

Conclusion

In conclusion I have to say that for my first bust made from Pegaso, I got 100% satisfied from every aspect and now I just have to find some time and paint this beauty. I'm sure that many painters will choose it and see lots of versions of it.

Finally I would like to Thank again Pegaso Models, Luca Marchetti and Pietro Balloni for providing this kit. :)
