Pete was keen on doing a 200mm figure of Lord Derfel Cadarn from Bernard Cornwell's King Arthur series. He told me that he had been in touch with the author who seemed to like the idea of one of his characters being so depicted. He had initially built the figure in 200mm scale with the aim of it being produced as one piece in resin bronze. I did some of the accoutrements and detailing for him. After he died the figure passed to me along with other bits and pieces I had sent him over the years.

I have dismantled the piece so that it can be cast piecemeal in resin for painting. The name plate has been tacked on with bluetac. I could easily name it as 'Anglo-Saxon Warrior' or even 'King Arthur':

Nice bit of nostalgia.Peter Morton made some great sculpts.Some great sculptors not with us anymore.I used to like Derek Holmes' Work for Verlinden etc.

I have now done this as a bronze. I have sprayed Ford Roman Bronze over a red oxide primer and then sprayed Humbrol satin varnish on top. I usually spray the bronze over a black base, and think I should revert to this next time:
