Peter Jackson to recreate Gallipoli trench for centenary

Wish I could check this out in '15. I hope some of our members from Oz can take pictures. As you likely already know, Jackson is a military history and figures fan. I hope he is not going to re-use the Hobbiton set.

Is this going to be in Oz or in NZ? Either way, I'm curious about how they intend to recreate the dysentery in the trenches. Perhaps they will run a muck spreader through every morning

Trust me there are many plans afoot in NZ to cemmorate our WW1 history, stay tuned it could be worth a trip over the ditch Tony!

Thanks for that link Colin, I had no idea anything like that was planned for '15 in NZ.
But it's great to see people with such talent and skill prepared to develop a display which will make the whole thing so much more real than the sadly dilapidated decades old dioramas we have now which were appropriate for the time but just don't do it now.
I think I can safely say no artistic representation of the experience of trench warfare will ever really give the observer a total experience of that type of warfare, if it was that successful it would be inhumane.
But having said that I'm thrilled that people of such undoubted talent should feel compelled to at least attempt to do so with the good intention of impressing upon the viewer the hell that was WWI....all power to their arms.
