Hello Ming,

wow, that is unbelievable....in that scale. I thouht it is minimum an 54mm figure.

This sculptor must have eyes like an eagle.

Thanks for sharing this great stuff.

Cheers,
Markus

That is very nice. There is some great stuff being done by those "mini" sculptors. Sure wish I had the eyes for doing those. ;) ~Gary

Tom seldom does work in larger scales. When he does they are just as nice as that little guy. Here is a link to his web site.

An instersting thing about Tom is that he sculpts laying down. On the message board at his site someone asked him about an old photo of him laying down sculpting with a large optic device on his chest. This is his answer.

"It wasn’t a bed, it was a capstan chair, though nowadays I use an electric recliner. The device is a dissecting microscope. I still use the same one, though now it’s mounted on an articulated arm. You can get a dissecting microscope from a dealer in microscopes, just search the web. You can also get one from a jewelry supply store. Be sure to get one with a wide field and extended field of focus. The dissecting microscope is the only way to work under magnification with your eyes completely relaxed. It is also far and away the most expensive, a basic rig is about $300. I'd get 1 1/2 to 3x or 2 to 4x , I find more magnification than this counter-productive."

Even with such good magnification this is spectacular sculpting.

He still must have good control of his movements and certainly be able to manage very small bits of Green Stuff. Look at the lace

I would love to sit beside him for an hour or two and see him work, but that is something I would love to be able with so many sculptors.
