Just finished this little fella from Andrea miniatures. The sculpting although historically imprecise in my opinion is brilliant.Anyway everything but the red badana is painted in oils. Back to old school in this one i guess. Hope you like it. Feel free to criticize. Cheers.

Dimitrios, I think, this is a beautiful miniature, but I would prefer it as a part of a vignette! Nice painting, I like most the 5 o'clock shade in face. Pleased aslo you have painted it in oils...

Thank you all for taking the time to look and comment. Theodore my first thoght about this one was to place it in a vignette. But finishing the last one , on the boat, left me dry of strenght and patience. David the flesh mix is titanium white, deep naples yellow, burnt umber and a touch of deep cadmium red, adding diffrent colors like french blue for the 5 oclock shadows or pthalo green and magenta for other areas.

Ken, Carl, Marc, Stefano thank you for your comments. Stefano everything is in oils except the bandana wich is acrylics.

A real lesson in how to paint in oils, lovely flesh tones and the cloathing is very nicely rendered. Even though the figures muscular mass isnt exactly historically correct, it does give you a nice amount of highlight and shadow areas to work on.

Guys thank you all for your kind words. Paul i see your point. Seems that these days oils are off to exctinction. The pants basic mix was quite simple deep naples yellow with burnt umber. Highlights as you'd guess more naples and later on some white. Shadows more umber.

Hi Dimitrios,
another excellent piece from the hands of a master painter. Beautiful flesh and lovely tones of the worn off trousers. I like this was painted in oils, it is my medium, so that is why I wonder what did you use for the blue textile belt, it is incredibly bright, almost like acrylic, can you share your mix of this with us? Lovely tones(y)
R.L.
