Does anybody have know of a good online source for their war paint and horse symbols ? I've got a good book Mrs Helm gave me for the background but it's not ideal for a painting source. I'm sure somebody here can help out with this.

Three artists that traveled N. America 1n the 1820-1840's and painted Native Americans are Charles Bird Kind, George Catlin and Karl Bodmer. Many of the pictures on the above site are prints from those artists. How accurate is that?

Hi Steve,
I didn't mean to sound 'whatever'. I just meant that these artists painted the Indians as they saw them at the time, which is what I for one am trying to recreate in miniature. I have several books on the Native Americans and I trust the paintings by the artists as the most historically accurate of my reference maretials. At least for the period in which they painted. I am assuming they are as accurate as can be expected without having been there ourselves.
