Please take a minute to read this.This is why I work to fund historical preservation. Not long ago this ground was slated to be just another sub-division and suburb of DC. These graves are hallowed ground and thankfully are now preserved forever.
Everyone, please use this as a bit of motivation to help groups that preserve the land. As a Marine, one consolation that I had was that I if I fell, I would be brought home and remembered by a plot of land and a simple marker. These men will probably never go home but we can remember and honor them. Whether they were North or South they were Americans and preserving their graves and the land where others might lie is what they deserve. The APG (shameless plug) and the CWT civilwar.org. are 2 that come immediately to mind. Once it's gone it's gone forever. Contact me if you want to help. [email protected]. Any amount will due.
