Another to look out for. A great subject, perfect scale for me, with plenty of scope to do a few 'add-ons' to personalise it a bit.
Nicely painted Carl.
Cheers

Could this be Captain Scott or Mr. Owens? Lovely sculpt and very well painted by Carl. Nice combination.
Look forward to seeing it at Euro next weekend.

Del. what "add ons" can you be thinking of "a Penguin"?

Taking note that I must purchase after Euro :) Nice one Rob ! (y)
The Age of Explorers is much of an uncharted territory in figures (apart from Andrea's Edmund Hillary), so many good subjects for figures; hope this is the first of many !

Johan very well put, an uncharted territory in figures. There are indeed so many wonderful people who could be included in this range.
For myself, I can only think of one man going outside in the night so that the others may live.
You are correc, a wide range of heroes opens up.

Dr. Livingstone, I presume ?

;)
I was thinking of Oates who during one night on attempting to return from the Pole decided they could not survive due to low food stocks. Scott reports that his last words were "I am going outside, I may be gone some time" and wandered out to his death,
Ironic as he had been the one who wanted to make better use of the horses on the ice. Had they listened to him I believe they would have survived.

David Mitchell from this site lives in Blantyre where Livingston was born.

... I see, well Don thanks to you I've learned to know for the first time the interesting history of a very brave gentleman, thank for the info (y) --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Oates
I apologize, you see for us Belgians explorers are in the first place men with tropical helmets & Winchesters sitting in a boat on the Congo river; about the Antarctic we know that Adrien de Gerlache went there, but we have only basic knowledge about Scott and Amundsen ... ;)

Anyway so this figure and discussing the subject with you has in a way tought me a lot about history even before I purchased it :)
