That is a beautiful sculpt, but there is a reason why a winged hussar bust has never been depicted with a lance.
The lance (kopia) was 4.5 to 5.5 metres long. This made it significantly longer than the standard infantry pike and therefore made the charge so overwhelming.
I'm not even sure whether this photo from the website 'Hussaria' depicts a true length.

In action the hand would be where the 'ball' is, making the kopia (and pennant) tower above the wings.
Having said that, I cannot fault the sculpting, but only the concept of a half figure winged hussar in action.

Cheers,
Andrew

Oh goodness MJ one of my favourite subjects :)

This is a belter (y) Cracker of a sculpt full of drama and action.
Brilliant take on the popular Winged Hussar busts.
It'd be brilliant to carry this through into a full mounted figure at 75mm.
Cheers
Derek

Hi MJ ,

That looks great and what a piece this is going to be painted up

Looking forward to seeing this one especially that lance

Thanks for sharing

This is fantastic! Very dynamic pose in sculpture. Have been following your box art painting progress on Facebook and it has been coming along really nicely! Great job
