Posting pictures correctly with an iPad

I have noticed that a lot of photos taken with the iPad appear sideways when they arrive on site. I had this problem too. They look correctly oriented on the device but look on their side. I have found that if you use the edit function to rotate the pic 4x on the iPad and then save, it orients correctly when uploaded. Makes no sense but it works.

As you know I've posted a number of pics from my iPhone on pF and they always end up sideways. I'll give that a try.
