Hi Guys,

Here is a preview of a 1:9th bust/half figure I have recently finished for Stormtrooper.
Stu asked to post a few pics prior to launch.

www.stormtrooperminiatures.co.uk

As you can see it depicts an Ensign of the 3rd East Kent Reg't of Foot. (The Buff's)

I'm not sure of the launch date, or price but I'm sure Stu will release all the relative information when he is ready to release the piece.

As always thanks for looking.

I hope you like him!

Carl

Wow. That is just stunning, Carl. How do you keep turning these out?

That could be a remarkable pairing with your French Imperial Guard Flag Bearer.

Cheers, Kurt

Not to sure what to make of this, but he looks deformed, maybe it's the camera angles

Have to say I thought the same I'm a great fan of carls but this looks a bit odd to me but may be the photos....Kevin

Good work Carl,
I can see what you have achieved here with this great piece. The cowering yet protecting the colour pose and facial expression are yet again moving your work up another level.
I think the dark nature of you photos is blacking out some of the shoulder and back detail making his head look to be in a strange position in the centre picture.
Well done Mate first class,
Keith

Cheers guys,

Having the benifit of seeing the piece through 360 degrees, I will try to explain the pose.

The left arm and hand are running down and holding the flag pole against the left shoulder.
The right hand is swinging the sabre from under the left arm, and as Keith says defending the colour.

I hope this explains the story and movement of the piece.
Carl

I personally think it works really well creative in what the piece is giving to the observer ,when this has the array of colours of the figure and the flag weathering facecial expression it will burst in to life , a breath of fresh air from the predictable flag beares gazing into the distance ,really shows how important the colours were both for the Regiment and the point to which to rally to , great work Carl
Cheers Chris

I can't compliment you enough Carl, your sculpts get better with every release and again this one is no exception,I love the pose and the time period you chose for it,another winner 10/10

There is an illusion of greater height and bulk to the right shoulder than might be natural. This is caused, I believe, by the epaulette on the right shoulder. If you imagine the figure without that epaulette then everything appears as it should. The epaulette bulks and changes the shape of the shoulder which is exactly what would happen in reality.

Another brilliant sculpt. I just need a longevity pill!

Again so well done and again will probably make me buy another one from an era I really dont do Thanks lol

Yet another cracker from Carl, I'm sure the pose looks correct in the flesh so to speak rather then a photo, first impression for me is "hang on a minute what's going on with his head" but once you think about it, it's a naturally awkward pose so difficult to get right, but I think it looks right & it looks good, nice one Carl(y)
Cheers

I really really like it but I just cant decide what I think about the head placement. I assume its the Buffs at Albuera?

Jonesy

Thanks guys!

I know why the head position is throwing your eye off guys. Its the deliberate position of the bicorn. The front is positioned over the right eye, 1 to accomodate the flag at the rear, and 2 to creat a more interesting look to the overall appearance of the figure.

Medievals don't wear bicorns.... Just saying ;) Another beaut Carl it does look a bit ockered but think in the flesh it'll work out just fine

Here is the artwork i sent to carl for this stunning piece.

Based on the story of lieutenant latham..3rd buffs defending the kings colour at albuhera. The buffs were over run along with some other regiments by soults cavalry especially by the vistula lancers and i think 1st hussars..

In the defence of the colours latham lost his left arm was severly slashed by a sabre cut to the face and severly mauled to the point of being unrecognisable. He had at the last torn the colours from its staff saving them from capture.

He lived and was even at waterloo i believe.

Many thanks for all the comments ...having this all i can say is its superb and the anatomy and movement are spot on

Stuart
