My good friend Kim Man Jin emailed me this morning and asked me to assist him in announcing a new mounted figure comming from Seil in a few weeks. Here is Kim's email:

How are you, my friends???
From a few weeks ago, I am painting a very interesting figure, it is from Seil Models.
I think it is really fantastic, so I decide to introduce on PF for all friends. :)
Can you introduce it with my some text ?

"Seil Models 90mm Samurai mounted figure, white metal"
It will be released in July. Its title is "Samurai with Strong Bow".
And it was sculpted by 2 of sculptors.
The figure was sculpted by Kim Dong-uk (Korea), and a horse was sculpted by Zlobov Sergey (Russia).
Especially in the historical point of view, this figure was supervised directly and completely during several months by Dr. Mitsuo Kure (I know he is a very close friend of Seil"s president.) who is very famous and authoritative Japanese scholar about samurai history and costume.
For example, the armpit part of samurai suit has to be opened, but I could almost never find such an attempt from samurai figures. So maybe this figure would be nearly unique with Seil"s another figure IchibanYari (SH90008. this also was supervised by Dr. Mitsuo.). But this is only my individual thinking. :)

I hope to finish to paint it in a few days, and I hope to show some detailed photos on v-bench after I finish to paint it.

Very, very nice figure. I can´t wait to see it painted.

But one question. I think the arrow is on the wrong side of the bow. It it is really at this side the arrow would fall down. He must lay on the bow and hand, not under the bow and over the thumb.

Ulrich

I think the arrow is OK and sometimes the finger crooks over the shaft of the arrow. so looks OK to me.
Awesome action on the figure.
Cheers
John

Mine the respect to master - sculptor Kim Dong-uk is a fantastic study of fine details of a suit and very dynamical pose shooting!
The figure very much impresses. Very much I wait for mail with a figure!;-)
Yours faithfully.

WOOOOOW!!!!!

Very nice pose on the figure and the horse.:):):)

The horse's right forward leg is too straight or is my anatomy not good?

Can anyone tell me what is the pose of the horse please running, trotting, walking etc?

But overall it is a nice figure with exceptional detail :):):)

Its allready in my want list :):):)

Dear Ulrich,
Thank you for you interest on samurai with strong bow. Position of bow and arrow is correct in Japanese way. An arrow always stays on right side of bow as figure perfectly shows.
Mitsuo Kure

Welcome to planetfigure Dr. Kure. We appreciate your feedback and knowledge on the subject of the Samurai.
