It's not a mistake, if you look at his other items he has over 87'000 books for sale, the first few I looked at were all $1000+.

Too many people don't do their research before buying these days, and as the saying goes...there's one born every minute!

Imagine the scene...guy walks into his local club and says 'look what I've bought....it's worth $1000...'

...then you slap him!

Cheers,
Jon.

He justifies his price thus.qugelmatic: We price certain books at $1,000 when we are temporarily running low on stock and do not want to sell the item. By setting the price to $1,000 (as opposed to ending the listing), we can just change the price back to normal when we receive stock, ensuring that the book is available for sale again immediately. Be sure to check back soon! What ever that means,
Carl.

This is quite a common practice in the U.S. Carl, and you will not uncommonly find a used book listed on Amazon merchants for $15-$30, say, with a final merchant's price of $1,000 as a "place marker".
Sometimes, though, the price jacks are real. W.Y. Carman's book on Indian Army Uniforms: Cavalry cost 6 guineas (those were the days!) when published in 1968 (reprint of the 1961 ed.)-- say $10 American, and I recently saw one on Amazon for $250. This made me very happy, because I had snatched mine up for only $90 a while back!
