Over the years the APG has experienced much success with the projects that we’ve adopted but the most recent has been especially rewarding for me.
You may or may not know that a core part of the battlefield at Princeton NJ has been threatened with development for several years. The Institute for Advance Studies (IAS), owners of the property, had planned to build housing on the site for it employees. Considering the significance of the site the Princeton Battlefield Society (PBS) got involved and tried to stop the development. I won’t go in to all of the reasons why this land should be protected because there are just too many to list here. All the info you’d like can be found on the PBS site. If you are not familiar with the Princeton Battlefield it's worth a look. http://www.theprincetonbattlefieldsociety.com/ P
The APG supported this project with our annual membership donation and by sponsoring a raffle last year with all the proceeds, which turned out to be $1000, going to the PBS. We also, through the exposure we gave it with phone calls, letters, our FB page and web site, were responsible for generating more interest and getting others involved.
With lots of hard work the PBS was recently granted a victory and it looks like the site has been saved, at least for now. To read about the results go to http://www.centraljersey.com/article...3764202309.txt
I am proud to say that we were a small part of this and many of you helped.
Thank you for your support.
