I have been wanting these for along time but not sure how to use them and what to mix them with. I need a crash course on the do and don'ts of these things.

Talino,

It is not so difficult as you might think. I will give you some options but there are many more.
Most at the time i mix my printers inks with some turpentine. Then let it dry for a few days.
After drying i take put some little pure ink on the surface that's to be need the highlight.
When it is gold, i mix this with silver printers ink to high highlight again after drying.

Sir,
I've had very good luck using the liquid carrier from Humbrol metalic paints as the wetting agent for printers inks.

I take a bit of the clear fluid from the tin and place it on my pallet and then add a bit of the ink. The carrier dries quickly but if you can keep adding a bit from the tin as necessary to keep the color useable. I use oils to shade, often mixing the ink with the oil and have had no trouble with anything not drying.
I Try to keep brushes used for printers inks seperate from my other brushes as it is not always possible to get all the metal flake out of your brushes
Have fun.
