Hi!
A couple of pictures of the bust I finished just before my norman. I dearly love the British napoleonic army and really enjoyed doing this one- the largest bust that I have painted!
It is a 1/9 bust from SK Miniatures, sculpted by the talented Carl Reid. As usual mostly done in Humbrol enamels with a bit of Vallejo and artist oils used for certain effects. As with my norman, I made some minor adjustments to personalise the piece a bit. I though that the cocked hat looked a bit plain, so added an old Poste Militaire plume in the usual white over red colours. I expect that they soon got lost on campaign but I thought it made him look, well, more British!I also sculpted the top of a pair of breeches for him. The main change though was a bit of work on the heavy cavalry carbine, which is basically a cut down Brown Bess of .75 musket bore. I straightened the top edge of the butt a bit to get the silhouette right and made a new foresight/ bayonet lug for the front of the barrel. Apart from that he is straight from the box. Hope you like him

Hi there TW

Very nice work indeed , like the additions and changes you made

Also like the uniform red ..can you share the mixes please if possible

Nap

PS Turned pictures for you

Sure Nap. The coatee base is just Humbrol matt red 60 plus a bit of dark brown 173 as it is an other ranks jacket ( below the rank of sergeant) and shouldn't be too bright- red as opposed to scarlet. Shadows are done with more 173 to the mix and highlights with the addition of matt flesh 60. I think that this produces a nice faded effect (suiting the climate of Spain) which still looks 'red'. I also did a bit of weathering with some brown Carr's weathering powders and a bit of powdered black pastel to simulate powder burns around the right shoulder area.
