Hi All, just finished painting this guy. Now I can finally get on to painting the vignette I've been working on. Thanks for looking!

Jason,

What a surprise! You just made my rainy day! (y) (y) (y)

This is at least just as good as the Prussian Jager you did before, you are improving in both sculpting and painting. (y) (y) (y)

... Well, what can I say that I didn't say before .... If Bismarck was alive today, he would approve of this, and you'd be his favourite miniaturist!

Oh btw, I really like the way you handled sculpting the trousers - wrinkles are not overdone, but just right, spot on. (y) (y) (y)

Johan

ps: btw, is this an Uhlan from the 4th regiment at Gravelotte st. Privat?

Jason Jason, You're getting comfortable? Yeah I would say so, nice paintjob. He's great, man o man. That vignette is gonna be sweet. Great job buddy.~Gary

Great job Jason. I love the stance of this guy. A difficult pose to pull off for a straight up and down. The guy has attitude.

Johan,

Thanks! Yes, I used Outpost Wargame Services painting guide as a reference and Osprey's Campaigns Series in which there is a TERRIBLE illustration of said regiment (atleast the colors were correct).

Sorry Gordy. :( I had some pic's in the sculpting forum. I apologize for not including those.

Thanks John and Gary. It was a blast to paint. At first I thought he would make a rather plain "Nappie" looking guy. But I am pleased w/ the results.

Actually, I could have been more delicate on the folds in the back of the trousers. It just "felt" good while sculpting.

Yes, Jason, I have the Osprey book on Gravelotte st.Privat, and I agree, the illustrations are terrible  but the text isn't bad...

The 4th Uhlans at Gravelotte st. Privat were butchered by the accurate Chassepot rifle fire of Frossard's well positioned infantrymen. The 77th French Line Infantry, as depicted in Poste Militaire's 70mm figure, were part of Frossard's division.
