Hi Guys,

Im calling this one done, finally, after a long time! Conversion from Richie's 24th Foot bust, to a companion to my Sgt Booth bust. Both represent VC winners from the 80th Foot (Staffs Volunteers) won during the Zulu War in 1879.

Painted in acrylics, this represents the actual tunic worn by Wassall in the Regt Museum and it lacks the yellow facings on the cuffs (apparently a variation worn by the MI units)

A massive thanks to Steve Readdie for the Martini carbine, an absolute gem!

thanks for looking,

Steve(y)

Like the pose , it's got lots of movement and like you say the weapon ?..a gem

Thanks for sharing

Thanks chaps - really enjoyed doing these two, will take them to IPMS Avon in August.

Nap - no pics of the tunic, at the moment, but could be addressed with another trip to the museum!

Some great modelling jobs being done representing this period in history.
Yours is right up there, a great looking end result.
The tri-partite approach between you, Richie ans Steve has certainly worked (y)
Cheers

Hi Steve,
A cracking finish mate, I love what you have done with this and the previous one. A fitting tribute to these 2 local V.C. winner's. The account's of both acts of heroism are a must read and really brought to life by David Rattray's talking book Day of the Moon. Samuel Wassall was the first winner of the V.C. for valour in the Zulu war.

Well done Steve, love it.
cheers
Richie

Thanks again, guys - Ill be visiting the museum again next week, hopefully, so Ill take my camera! Theres an amazing box diorama of Ulundi in there, all done with flats, approx. 30mm scale - amazing job!!

Hi great model of Wassall. I am about to do an oil painting of Samuel Wassall and was wondering if you do have the pics of his tunic?
