Ive been looking at this set of some figures but I have no idea what they look like in real life. Ive only seen some spare heads from this manufacturer.

Please give me your thoughts on this one.

The line was initially sculpted by Roger Saunders of HORNET, through the years there may be a few others thrown in although I believe he sculpted a good share of the line. So as far as sculpting, it should be good. As for the quality of the castings you may have to hope someone who has done some of these responds. The line drawings, good or bad are a horrible way to show a product. I would not mind some WW1 weapons myself.~Gary

Hail, o great Uruk-hai!

In my "first" period as a modeller/painter long ago, I bought a few kits of the Belgian infantry and the Belgian machine gun mounted on a dog-drawn little milk-cart. I thought the body parts of the figures etc were "average", and I thought the faces were "quite good" to even ...hmmmmm...."almost very good". The heads were somewhat reminiscent of Roger Saunders' sculpting - but I haven't said that, I haven't a clue who sculpted them really....
Weapons, equipment etc were pretty good, and you'll get etched brass straps, buckles, insignia etc ... up to you if you want to use these of course...

Hey, let me know if that Belgian machine gun on dog-drawn milk-cart is still available .... I recall that this little kit was quite good, and might want to do one with the Metal Modeles Belgian carabinier!

So, some items you'll find in these kits will definetely be of some use ... maybe to convert some of the metal modeles WWI kits?

Greetings,

Saruman the Wise

... No, not really, just Johan

Oh btw... about the casting quality : hmmmm.....quite good as I recall, I've seen worse. It's not poste militaire or metal modeles of course, but ,let's say, "good average".
I still would qualify the body&arms sculpting quality as "average" though... but I've only seen the Belgians, not the Brits, and the Belgian uniform is less well known, hence probably the .. eh... lack of detail.

Hope this helps.

Saunders may have only sculpted some of the full figures, cocentrating more on the heads as his figure sculpting is well above "average".~Gary

In the links section check out the "personal" pages. go to "Figuart" by Kenny Snakestone. He's got some WW1 Scale Link figures painted in his gallery section. These look like figures that were sculpted by Roger Saunders.~Gary

There are some photos of real figures in this page. In my opinion that figures are.. not so good. maybe some figures looks very good and some worse- like andrea's figures- some of them are betiful and some are terrible (for example Gerat War soldiers). But weapons and equipment are excellent!

As Gary said the figures were sculpted by Roger Saunders, but bear in mind these were his early stuff ( dating from the early/ mid 80's) before the days of Hornet and are not up to the standard of that range.
I have quite a few pieces and I could only describe the figures themselves as very basic by todays standards but the heads are classic Roger Saunders and are quite good.
The equipment varies in quality, some pieces are excellent, some not, but the weapons are basic .
I think they're still useful for conversions but need a lot of work.
