As there are may planeteers from United Kingdom, i hope you can help me. I want to know if there's some festivity, party, festival or recreation where people can wear their familiar kilt. I've got a piper and my wish is paint it with the familiar tartan of my wife's family, with a correct scenary. They are Nairn, and i know there's a town with this name, and found the tartan of the kilt, but she was born in Spain and doesn't know nothing about scottish folklore.

My mothers Scottish, as are a couple of cousins.
Kilts have also been worn at 'Black Tie' (ie formal dress events) and weddings (At least that's where we see them most often) ;)

Cheers
Paul

Hi mate.
Lovely wee town, I've been there a few times, on the shores of the Moray Firth.
If you want to do the Piper in a traditional and relevant setting probably something along the lines of a Burns Supper.
Robert (Rabbie) Burns is the National Poet of Scotland and held in greatest esteem and pride, just like Federico Garcia Lorca.

You could have the piper 'piping in the Haggis'. Place the piper next to a table with a platter on which the haggis is served. Stick a Dirk in the Haggis (see The Address to the Haggis). haggis_1.jpghaggis 2.jpg

You could ...... no you should have a Burns Night, perfect for the Spanish temperament (y) If you can get a Haggis, great. If not any large 'blood type pudding cooked in a sheeps stomach will do. Personally I'd cook Frito Mallorquin, add a little rice or preferably barley, stuff the hot mixture into a cooked sheeps stomach and serve. Simply stab the Haggis as you recite the poem and squeeze the contents out and serve. Drink lots of Whisky (y) There is of course an established format for the Supper, here it is. http://www.visitscotland.com/about/robert-burns/supper-whats-involved

doesn't matter if she was born in spain, one percent of Scottish blood/ancestry makes you Scottish. tartan coat for a dog, tartan kilt, tartan scarf, tartan trews( trousers) who cares, deep fried mars bar, haggis, whisky, tatties-mince-and white pudding, who cares. welcome home.

Mmmm. Try living here for over 50 years and you soon realise its not so nice. Mind you its better than Folkestone

No - to be honest there is lots of history in the area - much of it centred around the Jacobite rebellions as Culloden is only 10 miles away.
If the OP's wife wants to see Nairn there's plenty vids on youtube. :)

There you go Nigel ......... is there a pattern here? Folkestone, Dunoon and now Nairn ......... there must be a common denominator, just can't seem to put my finger on it ;):D
