Sad news - again...

I've just learned that Shane MacCowan, the frontman of Anglo-Irish folk punk band The Pogues has passed away today at the age of 65 (even though I have to admit, I'm surprised he made it that far...).

I saw the band twice in the 1980s and listened to their first three albums again and again, and though MacCowan was a rather troubled character, his voice and stage presence were quite magnetic.
Here's one of my favourite songs from that time:

I'll definitely have a little drink in his memory tonight.

Rest in peace
As you say, a troubled man, but an insightful and intelligent one too. With a poet's view of the world.
That he made it to 65 is a minor miracle - and Shaun Ryder is still around, in a similar vein.
In the mould of Dylan Thomas: A candle that burned very brightly.
