Hello All,

It is quite frustrating for me as a sculptor to not be able to post pics of my work as it is finished. Most clients frown on this and so, I tend to keep my light under a bushel. Kevin at Ultracast has just released this figure on his website here:

http://www.ultracast.ca/products/54/011/default.htm

This figure is intended to go with the fantastic new Tamiya Spitfire Mk. IX kit in 1/32nd scale. That would make the figure approximately 54mm. It was quite a fussy sculpt and I was glad to get it off my work table....

This is the original sculpt and the painted version can be seen at the link above.

Cheers!!

Aha ! now that's one I should order in the weeks to com, as I do have the Tamiya kit. great !!

But eh, Mike, not a smokin' Jerry this time but - surprisingly! - a smokin' Tommy :) ??? ;)

Explain, man ! :)

Good work, Mike!

But I sometimes wonder if the aircraft modellers are worth the effort? Or its perhaps just me bashing my head towards local IPMS conservatism?

Cheers
Janne Nilsson

Thanks Janne!

No worries about IPMS types. I have many friends among them. And frankly, I don't do the figures for them anyway. I do the figures because I like them and my clients want them. That works out pretty good for me.

Cheers!!

Mike

P.S. I think I finally shook that zeppelin that was following me around....

Mike stop it! I am poor student and I am going to have to find a job to fund this habit. Seriously, great figure. I have most of your pilots from Model Celler and Ultracast so please keep them coming.

Now should I buy the Tamiya kit just to chop it up for a wedgie:p

Awesome figure Mike - this is the one I've been waiting for! He'll look great rebadged as a Canuck (it's a weakness ,eh ?)!

You said it was a "fussy sculpt" - what made it "fussy" for you? Not being a sculptor myself I was just curious what types of challenges push the limits of an experienced artist like yourself.

Again, great job and I'll be giving Kevin a shout tonight!

Cheers,

Brian

Hi Mike,

Great work as always mate!!!!

I know what you mean about being frustrated about having to keep work under wraps, I must have about 10-15 pieces that are waiting to be released to the world.

Carl

Man, that's just awesome Mike! Sweet job.

That new Spitfire kit was so deserving of a proper figure to go along with it.
