As I told you a few days ago (sorry the delay, but I'm really busy) here's another miniature from Wings Cockpit Figures.

That was sculpted by Mike Good and it's 1/32 scale.

It's four optional heads, as you can see in the pictures. And was inspired by the WWII pilot Adolph Malan

Nice paint job but as I recall from the instructions for Mike's great PM 90mm Malan and other portraits I've seenon the web, I think his hair was light brown or ginger. Everything else is terrific. As you are saying"inspired by" I think you are OK.

Nice job Iguazzu!

Just to clear up the misunderstandings here: the bare head with the smiling face is not intended to represent Sailor Malan. It is, instead, a portrait of Johnnie Johnson. Malan would be the fellow at the bottom wearing the helmet without the oxygen mask. Iguazzu, I think you missed Johnnie's chipped front tooth, which I was careful to represent in the sculpture.....

BTW, the oxygen masks always should have the ribbed hose attached to them. This part is included in the kit, but inexplicably left off the figures in the photos.

Thanks for your comments.

As Mike said, is a misunderstanding. I mean that the sculpting work was inspired by Malan, not the paint work. Just the last head was inspired by Malan. But thanks for your observation @crf ;)

Mike, about the ribbed hose; I talked with David about them. The heads aren't fixed to the body, so it was very difficult to attach them just provisionally to take the final pictures. I'd to change to one head to another, so was easy not add the ribbed hose. But as you said, they're included in the kit (as I wrote in my site, and you're welcome to read ;) ) I hope that explain that thing inexplicable for you.
About the Johnnie's chipped front tooth... I'm not sure, but did you mean that? (in the picture) If the reply is "yes", I think that you can't see it in the final pictures due the angle of the picture; so it doesn't look "missed". Anyway, nobody told me that it was inspired in Johnnie Johnson (I only was informed about the Malan's head) and next time will be very usseful to recieve all the necesary info. Finally, I've to say the detail level of your work is amazing ;)

Nice !! (y)
For those interested in putting this figure in a 1/32 aircraft : both Malan and Johnson flew Spitfire Mk IXc's like the wonderful but not inexpensive Tamiya kit.
Johnnie Johnson as Kenley Wing leader of course flew his famous personal Mk IXc : EN398 coded JE-J.
Sailor Malan, as Wing Commander and Biggin Hill station commander has been famously photographed in early 1943 in the cockpit of Spitfire Mk IXc BS435 coded FY-F of 611 sqn . This aircraft was usually flown by Sqn Leader Hugo Armstrong commanding officer of 611 sqn, but in early 1943 Malan seems to have borrowed the aircraft at least once to fly along with the wing ...

Hope this helps.

Thank you Iguazzu! There is Johnnie with his chipped tooth! Thank you for posting this photo!

Johan,

The figure was especially sculpted to fit into the excellent Tamiya 1/32nd scale Spitfire Mk. IX/Mk.VIII kit. The Wings kit explains this in the instructions and contains replacement foot pedals to fit with the figure's boots. I hope this helps....

Cheers!!

Mike
