I've been using W&N series 7 brushes for about 20+years,but have noticed a drop in quality consistency, but after reading a thread on this forum,i had a go at using Raphael 8404 kolinsky sable brushes, and i'm over the moon with them.I've only had them a couple of weeks, and i'm an oil painter ,so they had to like white spirit thinners. So far they are amazing,as they keep a point so well.
Time will tell about their longetivity, but up to now ,they've got to be the best brushes i've ever used.
Got them from Jacksons Art Supplies online.

Cheers for that Super. On another note I popped into the local Hobby craft store today and they were selling off all of their Artist quality Georgian oil paints at £2 a tube. :woot:

Don't know how long the clearance has been on for. They are also getting rid of the Gouache and watercolours as well. Plenty of those left.

they will keep their point, don't worry about it. I use them all the time with acrylics and they are amazing. I love their thick belly.

Have been using a size 1 and size oo for about 3 weeks now,and they've been in and out of white spirit on a daily basis, and they're still perfect.
Best brush i've ever used!! and i don't say that lightly.
How they will be with you acrylic boys, i couldn't say,but well worth checking them out

I have been using Raphael brushes since the eighties and they are absolutely fantastic for oil, enamel, designer gouache, egg tempera and watercolour.

Just a little followup on what I said earlier about Richard Blick. I stopped by the local DB over lunch yesterday and found that they did not have the Raphael sable brushes in the store. I have to order them online. Not a problem, just a minor inconvenience. If I can have them sent to the store for pickup, I can save on shipping (being Dutchy!).

Prost!

I am currently using them as well, and I can back up Brian's recommendation. Very good indeed. Give them a go Nap, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Cheers Brian and Chris ....I have got 2 of each size 0 and 1 on their way ( from Jacksons as they were cheaper! )

Looking forward to trying them
