Hey all,

Here's a few shots of my latest - an RCAF Typhoon pilot in Normandy, summer 1944 in 1/35. He's a conversion of an Ultracast Commonwealth tanker with a new head also from Ultracast. I added the silk scarf and RCAF insignia from Milliput and carved away the gaiters and sculpted new boot tops (again from Milliput with Historex buckles and lead foil straps). He's painted up in oils over an acrylic undercoat:

Here's the "before" figure (from the Ultracast website - thanks Kevin !):

... and here's the finished conversion. Hope you like...

As always, advice and comments most appreciated.

Cheers,

Thanks, guys for the comments - much appreciated.

Dan, my inspiration to do this guy came from a Ron Volstad plate in Osprey's book on the Canadian Armed Forces in WWII - as a Canuck myself, I like twisting "British" figures into Canadian shapes. The conversion was relatively easy to do too, since the battledress was similar for both Army and RCAF - no major re-sculpting there, apart from the boots. A great book on RCAF Typhoon squadrons by Hugh Halliday supplied all the rest of the uniform details, especially the maps tucked in the boot tops, and was great reading to boot.

Thanks again for the support - it's why I keep coming back !

Brian
