Ready to get started

I'm new to figure modeling but I'm ready to get started, can you guys help point me in the right direction? What products/materials and tools will I need? Where can I get these items? Any helpful tips hints or ideas?

To get started your going to need a figure kit, glue, xacto knife, paint, and brushes. You can get all of this online or at a local hobby store. I have found it difficult to find a good hobby store around me. Here are some good places online to shop:

Dan, first off, what would you like to paint? what scale? The I guess what medium are you going to use for painting? acrylic or oils? Having decided that will then give you an idea of what cost is involved. I would think you'd only need a few tools for clean up and the like. You may want to throw in a little extra for books, especially if you plan on concentrating on a certain period.~Gary
