It's in a trial phase, it's not formally announced, y'all are discussing something without all the details and projecting erroneous conclusions.
Gordy, I'm with Keith and the others on this and had been wondered what my grading of "Hidden" meant as I have (knowlingly) 'hidden' nothing? As per your comment above, do you think on reflection that it may have been of some value to float this idea past members in the first instance and see if anyone other than the unknown party(s) who suggested it thought it was useful or indeed necessary?
At the risk of being totally wide of the mark here, I would hate to see this great site develop into something one encounters on other model related sites - "Hyperscale" being one - where there is a clear and established 'pecking order' amongst users as to who's comments, contributions and opinions are judged and valued on a sliding scale. Indeed, try and say something on some sites that offers an alternative or contradiction to the opinion or sentiments of one or more of 'the names' .....and get ready for the resultant vitriol!
Personally, I am relatively new to figure painting from another branch of the hobby and as such would not consider at this time posting on this site any works or 'tips' as to how figs should be painted. This is not because I cannot be bothered, but rather because in truth, my own efforts would contribute little if anything of value in terms of skills or what people on PF wanted to see. By virtue therefore of my relative inexperience and limited skills with a paintbrush, does that mean by default that my "reputation" or indeed those like me should be significantly less amongst my fellow painters than, say, someone who weekly posts their latest masterpiece in miniature?
In the absense of any declared or identified need for this new grading system, I rather suspect that "reputation" (by design or otherwise) is nothing more than a form of overt elitism or kudos amongst site members? That said, I DO hope that I and the others who have posted in a similar vein are totally wrong on this.
Regards
Gary
