While this is not a new release, I have not seen this figure on this forum yet so I thought I would provide a short review of the bust. I have appreciated many of the reviews posted to this forum (especially those by Guy) and value the ability to see the kit as it first appears out of the box.

Although listed as "Scottish Gentleman" on the Pegaso website, the box labels the kit as "Highlands Gentleman."

The pieces are well packed in the box, surrounded by the sort of fake grass you find in easter baskets (sorry, I don't know the official name for the stuff). There is little chance for the parts to bang together or become damaged, though the stuff does tend to get everywhere when you open the box. The smaller pieces are placed in two bags so there is little chance of anything becoming lost.

The kit contains six white metal pieces. The casting created very little in the way of seam lines (though they were present) and their cleanup was quite easy. The only significant piece of flash is on the underside of the body (as you can see in the picture above).

Overall, the pieces fit together well. The beret has a peg that fits into a hole in the figures head. This hole was partially filled in and I had to drill it out. Alternatively I feel the peg could have been filed down without adversely affected the fit. The fit between the stand and the underside of the body is not as smooth as I would like. Although it is not very visible, I would recommend using putty to avoid any unsightly gaps.

Conclusion: Despite one or two minor issues with the casting, the quality of the kit is very good. As I said, it needed very little cleanup and was ready for painting in no time. The face is very well sculpted and this is a great kit for someone looking for a chance to paint a tartan in a somewhat larger (ie less intimidating) scale. I would definitely recommend this figure.

Fantastic review David. I like the way you have the review laid out showing both sides of the parts. I hope to see more reviews by you.

Thnak you for the review. The only issue I can see is that the line between beard and face looks very hard and neat. A bit of work with some filler to smooth out the transition I think!
