Just seen the sad news from the Truro Model Builders ( UK )
QUOTE
It was a great shock to hear the news from his wife Penny this afternoon that our good friend and fellow model builder Ian Alderton passed away unexpectedly this morning.
In his usual understated way Ian only messaged me yesterday morning to say he would not be at Malpas that evening as he was 'a bit under the weather'.
Those of us who were privileged to know him all send our deepest condolences to Penny and Stephanie.
Ian's work on figures and busts was stunning, and to those of us who build aircraft or ships or ordinary stuff it was sheer wizardry. He will be very missed on Monday evenings where his quiet, dry sense of humour would often interrupt proceedings with all the impact of a knockout blow.
We will keep your usual table clear, our friend.
