If crests were in fact unit identifiers (which is a big "if"), then the feathers at either side could suggest that he's a common soldier of Legio II Adiutrix Pia Fidelis based at Singidunum (modern Belgrade). They served in the Dacian campaigns of Domitian and Trajan (with the young future emperor Hadrian as a junior officer of the legion for a few years). Attached is ordinary legionary Caius Castricius Victor of LEG II AD who appears to wear these on his helmet [although this stone dates from a few decades earlier than the early 2nd century]. Despite what you see all the reenactor groups doing, there's no evidence at all that feathers at either side indicated an optio. o_O

Nice looking figure, no idea what an optio is, a rank or rate I suppose. Love how they've done the armour much more realistic to how it would have looked, IMO, much better than the FeR boxart of their offering with shiny NMM, again IMO.
